Artist's Comments

From an ongoing project. The fossil record of Turkey is full of amazing animals, yet no one here knows a thing about them. What a pity.

From the bottom up, they are;
The primitive, civet-like Protictitherium,
The running, dog-like Hyaenotherium,
and Adcrocuta, a more "modern" species.

These look so clean ... if you don't mind me asking a technical question, what program were these made with and were they hand-drawn originally?
:iconnemo-ramjet:
I sketch them on pencil on really large paper, shrink it, scan it and then trace over with the "pencil" tool in photoshop. I wish I'd discovered this method when I'd started Snaiad, far more efficient this way.
:iconwhalewithlegs:
man, you're telling me .. i just learned about setting layers to 'multiply' after fiddling with other ways of trying to color my sketches for years .. argh :)

Clean, accurate and simple just the way I like it ;) I'd like to see more of this project!

I hope you don't mind my trying the method you discuss with ~whalewithlegs on for size.

Interesting animals, anymore or it's just them?

Yay 4 reconstructionz! Impressively neat and detailed, certainly deserving of a place in any scientific publication.

Are we going to see more fossil beasts of Turkey?

If I'm not mistaken hyenas occupied most niches occupied by canines in the Old World until canines came from North America, right?

Multiply is the only way to go. All my photoshop drawings use it.

Please do more like this. I know you typically do "aliens". But your real species are great!
