The Totality of Snaiad Art on DA

Sun Nov 18, 2007, 12:41 PM
I first started Snaiad as a simple exercise, with perhaps a dozen or so creatures to illustrate life on an alien planet. ( [link] ) As time went on and the pictures grew, I got hooked. And now, I'm pleased to announce others are too. I may have started the whole project, but I am not the only Snaiadi artist on DA. There are many others, and your appreciation of the effort will not be complete if you don't see their work. So please, pay my friends a visit.

Update: I couldn't enough there could be such a frenzy of creation -more than three pictures every day with no sign of stopping yet- Thanks once again! This is creating so many new choices that it will take me some time to screen and paint them all.

:iconzippo4k:

Jonas' drawings are as amazing as his attention to detail and expertise, he's the only one in this bunch who is training as a zoologist, as far as I know. I have painted many of his ideas, but every week he comes up with about a thousand more superb ones! :)

:iconrodlox:

Rodlox's style might be simple, but he also has produced a profusion of creatures, mainly invertebrates or precious fossil forms. A lot of them are in the pipeline for full-scale paintings.

:iconavancna:

Stanton did a series of marine invertebrates a while ago, some of which might be related to Jonas' ur-clams. His DA account is also full of creatures from Earth's own prehistory, or his own worlds.

:iconfingertier:

Along some nice fan art, Fingertier has also produced creatures that are related to those that already exist on Snaiad, adding several nice specimens on my "to paint" list. He seems to have a special interest in blumbomen, with interesting results.

:iconrayn-hammer:

A young visitor from Long Island, Rayn-hammer also designs critters for some of his own worlds, so give his gallery a visit as well.

:iconpiatnitskysaurus:

Tim is one of the most extravagant-yet-believable creature designers around, he recently added this fascinating selection.

Want to be on this list? Please go ahead, as long as you take a look at previous Snaiadi art and try to make your creatures somehow related to those that already exist. If I make a painting of one of your designs, I will fully credit it. I am always here for your questions and inquiries.

I wonder if there might be a sci fi documentary if there is i think it would be realy cool and the aliens you make are awsome!
Great work, everyone :)
Of course! What are you waiting for? =)
I have to say, a lot of what makes Snaiad better than Expedition or After Man is your approach to it. Where a lot of other speculative projects go outward toward the 'scientific', the perspective you've established is very rooted in the human element.
This will take a while to browse!
